In case, you haven't yet heard about it (and it does seem to be sort of on the down-low right now), Joss "The Great One" Whedon did something "very ambitious, very exciting, very mid-life-crisisy" and set out to "change the face of Show Business as we know it."
Are we all ready for Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog? The new three part Internet-only musical series (Yeah! It's a musical!) gets underway on Tuesday when the first episode goes online. The second follows on Thursday, and the last (sadly) on Saturday. Then they're gone! Poof! Well, at least until downloads are released with lots - as Joss promises - of juicy extras.
But what's it all about? Nobody knows much, but according to E Online it is a musical (Yeah! Again!) with a storyline centering around a marginally competent geek who wants to be a villain, Dr. Horrible (Neil Patrick Harris); a suave yet silly sex symbol of a hero, Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion); and a lovely, deeply sympathetic and totally identifiable leading lady, Penny (Felicia Day).
And just to say it Once More with Feeling - it's a musical! Yeah!
Joss reveals as much as he's going to pre-debut in his Master Plan. Which isn't actually that much. But knowing the mind of Mr. Whedon, his track record with a musical (Yeah! It's a musical!), and his enthusiasm for this project, and I'm very excited. Make that very, very excited.
How many minutes 'til Tuesday?
Okay, I just watched Act I. Did anyone else see it?
I did. Thought it was funny and cute. Don't forget the second one on
Thursday.
I'm loving it! Just watched Act 2 and am falling a little more in love with
Dr. Horrible. Can't wait for the final act!
