Mad Men and Women: Is the Writers' Strike About to Settle?

posted Wednesday, 30 January 2008

Blog commenter Jessica delivered a welcome piece of good news the other day in response to my worrying (okay, whining) about whether or not Mad Men would be back for a new season this summer.  Turns out Lionsgate, the show’s production company, made an independent interim deal with the Writers Guild, allowing the Mad Men writers to go back to work. Huzzah!  Looks like my Don Draper fix will indeed be satisfied when summer rolls around.

Now onto the gossip mill.  Rumors seem to be flying fast and furiously around Hollywood that the strike is very close to a settlement.  What that means for this TV season is open to question.  Some shows will go back into production to try to put together new episodes for this season and others won’t.  I’ve heard that Lost (sob!) is one of the latter.

I've done my best to steer clear of Lost spoilers and for a confirmed TV spoiler junkie it hasn't been easy, but I have heard that Michael is back as a series regular and that we'll be seeing Libby again.  I've missed Michael especially because Harold Perrineau is one fine actor.

And speaking of Lost, as I write this we’ve now got less than 36 hours to go before we’re back on the island.  Or is that until we’re not back on the island?  Only time will tell, won’t it?

In the meantime, let's all keep our fingers crossed that this strike ugliness is almost over.
