Forget Romeo. I want Taylor Swift's dress.

posted Tuesday, 18 November 2008
taylor swift-love storyI think it's become mandatory for teenage and college-aged girls to become obsessed with Taylor Swift's song, "Love Story."  So many of my friends and classmates have downloaded it, quote it, sing it, swoon over it.  As I'm generally not a country music fan, it took me a while to finally hear this song they had all fallen for, until I was flipping channels a week or two ago and saw this video.

I had two reactions to it.  First, how much more romance-novel can you get?  The ballroom dancing, the handsome hero, the longing glances and secret meetings, the running across a field at dawn... Sometimes I don't get why my generation will fall in love with videos like this, watch Pride and Prejudice over and over again, cry over chick-flicks, and listen to sappy romantic songs... but then refuse to pick up a romance novel.

My second reaction:  I want her dress.  The one she's wearing when she's hanging off the balcony?  Gorgeous.  I'd probably trade Romeo for it.  I'm not sure who picks Taylor Swift's wardrobe for her music videos, but I watched a few last night, and whoever it is has pretty amazing taste.  All of her dresses (especially the one in her "Teardrops on My Guitar" video, another of her songs my friends became super-obsessed with) are pretty incredible.  Not many 18-year-olds get to play dress-up like Taylor does.

That dress is amazing!!!! The video was awesome. I've been waiting for an artist to do something like this, but the whole album tell like a novel! Taylor, how 'bout it?

And doesn't she have the most beautiful dewy skin you've ever seen?

Jane: I've never seen her videos before, but I really enjoyed them. And yes, the dresses are to die for, especially the one in Teardrops on My Guitar. Gorgeous. As for member sof your generation who like the songs and videos but not romance novels, be patient. There's still time for them to come around. And then you can say, "I told you so!"

Hey, I blogged about this video last week. I watched Taylor's performance at the CMA awards last Wednesday night, and they had some dancers dressed in faux-Georgian era clothes dancing, so I checked out the original video, finding it on YouTube. Posted both the CMA awards performance and the actual video on my blog.

Loved the video... so pretty!

And I love the dress you're referring to, but it almost looks like 'stays' over a shift, doesn't it?
